Ann Curry

Ann Curry, an American photojournalist and journalist who has been covering the natural and military disasters of more than 45 years. She focuses on the suffering of people who live in these places. Curry has reported on wars around the world, including in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry, (born November 19 1956 Agana American journalist and TV news reporter and anchor who was most well-known for her work as a reporter on the Today show, a news morning program aired by the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry became known in particular for her coverage of human rights crises, natural disasters and other emergencies that occurred within war-torn areas. Curry's father served as a sailor with the U.S. Navy and her mother was Japanese. The couple met when their father was in Japan following World War II. In 1978, she graduated at in the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. Curry moved around a lot together with her husband as well as did not go to a school for longer than two full years. She attended schools in San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia. Ashland was where she eventually completed her high school. In Medford the following year, she began her broadcasting career with KTVL Channel 10 as an intern. When she was 22 she was the first reporter to be female at KTVL. Then she was promoted to the post of anchor as well as reporter at KGW an NBC affiliate in Portland, Oregan. After four years, she relocating into Los Angeles as a reporter for KCBS-TV. Through the six years she worked for KCBS the station, she won two Emmy Awards.
